Both were reported to the Police. No result. He said he had heard that there were many robbers, many Tien Sze Kuk swindlers and many Triads in Hongkong. He never remembered crime to be so

prevalent.

1. Wei Yuk explained that there were 2 kind.

of Tien Sze Kuk swindlers namely the swindlers of returning emigrants and the like and the swindlers of rich people. Te said

that it was the swindlers or this latter class that were now so prevalent. Mossrs. Browin and Badeley asked if the names of these swindlers had been reported for banishment. Mr. Wei Yuk said they had, but that the ringleaders had not yet been

banished.

Mr. Wel Yuk said the most dangerous

element at present was the Triad Society. He said the Society

fomented the recent jinricksha strike. He instanced the man

Chen Yi-kan who was a Triad and at the boston of the strike and

who had not been banished. Mr. Badeley said the man in question

had been sent to him by the Registrar-Ceneral as a man who

could stop the strike, Chan Yi-kan had given him (Mr. Badeley)

useful infor ation concerning the strike and he did not think

that in the circumstances he ought to recommend the man for

banishment.

Mr. Lau-chu-pak said that he had information

that there wore 50 Triad Clubs in West Point. He had reported

the names of prominent Triads to the registrar-General.
